Something For Fidgeters

So often, we think new inventions need to be big and bold. We hear about 3D glasses and self driving cars and think that the future is all about flashy technology.

Let’s not forget that creative ideas can come in small packages. Exhibit A: The Fidget Cube.

Described as “An unusually addicting, high-quality desk toy designed to help you focus” the Fidget Cube is the latest success story from Kickstarter. Created by Matthew and Mark McLachlan, this small desk toy is loaded with clickers, a roller, a switch, a spinner and even a  worry stone — all geared at warding off fidgeting.

As someone who often finds myself clicking a pen or spinning my key chain, I think this invention is genius. And I must not be the only one who thinks so. The Kickstarter project has earned over $6 million dollars.

Watch the video below and see for yourself why nearly 150,000 backers are buying the Fidget Cube.

Pretty cool, huh? If you or a loved one is a fidgeter, you may want to act fast. Just a few hours remain to buy one.

My Book is Now On Sale!

Today I am thankful that Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel is now available in paperback format!

Maury C Moose Book 3D

Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel is on sale and guess what??

On MauryCMoose.com, you get to pick the price!

That’s right, you can buy the book for whatever you want!

As I stated in my Kickstarter video, I wrote this book because I want to encourage kids and parents to read together. I found it hard to put a price on that.

I thought about just giving it away for free, but as Pay What You Want guru Tom Morkes says, just because you can get free samples at Costco, doesn’t mean that you actually like what you are getting and want more!

I want to make this book as accessible as possible. At the same time I also don’t want to lose all my money.

That’s where you come in. Just click the button below and you get to pick the price of the book and pay what you think is fair.

The book will retail for $10, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay $10.

So whether you want to buy me a $0.99 Slurpee, a $5 footlong, $100 worth of pretzel bread or anything in between or beyond, it’s totally up to you! Because PayPal dictates that you must put in some value, you will have to at least pay $0.01. But I bet if you look around long enough you can find a penny on the street to make up for it.I will charge $5 for shipping just to make sure that the book gets to you in one piece.

I am thankful for whatever price you are willing to pay.

I know this probably seems different and might be a little confusing. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about why I am selling my book for whatever anyone wants to pay. Just send me an email at Adam@MauryCMoose.com and I would love to hear more about what you think of Pay What You Want Pricing.

My Book is Finished!

Maury C Moose Book 3D

Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel is finished and it looks great!

Thanks for all of your support and patience through this whole process.

I am sending the eBook first to all of my awesome Kickstarter backers and then I will post some information about how everyone else can get their hands on the book.

Check out the image of the book and let me know what you think!

I will be adding more and more to the site over the next few weeks. Once the book is printed I will add some new pictures as well as information about how to get the book.

Let me know what you guys think of the website and if you have any suggestions for things that I should add!

Thankful For Kickstarter

As many of you know (and are probably sick of me mentioning), the Kickstarter campaign I ran for my book, Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel, expired yesterday.

I am blessed to say that not only did I reach my goal, but I surpassed it and achieved 114% if my $5,000 target!

I couldn’t have done it without the support of my 89 backers, the countless number of people who helped spread the word and, last but not least, Kickstarter.

For today’s thankful Thursday, I am very thankful for Kickstarter!

Two months ago I knew very little about Kickstarter, but now it is something that has made a huge difference in my life as an aspiring author.

Kickstarter has not only helped me raise funding, but it as also helped me raise awareness for my book. Hundreds of people have viewed my project, watched my video and liked my Facebook page. This would not have happened without Kickstarter.

I could have made a book without Kickstarter. But it wouldn’t have been nearly as good and very few people would have known about it.

Thanks to Kickstarter, I have not only a renewed excitement for my book project, but also a new following to share that excitement with.

Many people are now looking forward to seeing the book come to life and I have Kickstarter to thank.

If anyone out there is reading this and on the fence about whether to start their own Kickstarter project or not, I definitely say go for it! You will not regret it.

And when you do start, send me the link and I will be the first in line to support you because I know how great the feeling of gaining a new backer feels.

You Are Awesome

I would like to start off this Kickstarter update by saying one thing.

YOU…ARE…AWESOME!

Just minutes after last week’s update we reached our goal of raising $5,000! I continue to be amazed (and grateful) for the support and excitement for Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel.

We now have one week left to go and in order to keep the excitement going I am introducing a stretch goal of $7,500. A stretch goal is a funding target set beyond the original Kickstarter goal to increase rewards and encourage continued funding. By hitting this new goal I can offer even more cool stuff.

When I thought about what I can offer for the stretch goal one thing immediately came to mind…more tattoos! I have gotten fantastic feedback and people have let me know that they are really excited about the temporary tattoos.

But the only problem is that only people who have backed at the $100 level and above receive the tattoos. So here’s the new goal…If we can get to $7,500 before the project ends next week, I will give every single backer 10 more Maury C. Moose tattoos! So continue to tell your friends and family about the project and let’s see if we can hit this new goal.

Speaking of tattoos, I am working on the design and wanted to get your opinion. Do you think the tattoos should only include Maury? Or should I also use the book’s title and Maury’s pal Mikey?

Below is an image with each design. Let me know which version you like best in the comments section below.

Maury Chris Moose Facebook Page

I want to let everyone know that I have created a Facebook page for Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel. You can check out the page here to stay up-to-date on the latest news regarding the Kickstarter project!

This will also be the official page once the Kickstarter campaign is complete and the book is published. So share it with friends, family and anyone who might want to learn more information about the upcoming book.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed financially or by sharing the project. We are less than $300 from reaching our goal! And we still have two weeks left to raise funds. Hopefully we can reach the goal this week and have one final week to add stretch goals and rewards. More on that to come.

Once again, the official Maury C. Moose Facebook page can be found here. And here’s the link to the Kickstarter campaign. Share both with anyone you want!

Thanks for all your help!

Top 10 Reasons To Back My Kickstarter Project

First off I would like to say that I have been overwhelmed by the support for my Kickstarter project. As I am writing this, I have 60 backers totaling $4,050. That means we’ve achieved over 80% of my goal in just 1 week!

I can’t thank you guys enough for your support so far. I am on pace to not only meet my goal, but to blow the antlers off of it (haha, subtle moose joke).

One great thing about Kickstarter is that they allow you to take home all funds you receive surpassing your goal. By going over the goal of $5,000 I will be able to afford more artwork, better printing rates and get many other things that will allow me to create a better book.

With three weeks left on my campaign, I continue to ask for your support in getting the word out about Maury C. Moose. For those of you who are still on the fence about backing the project or passing it along to friends and family, I’ve created a list of the top 10 reasons I think you should back my project. Here they are…

Top 10 Reasons To Back My Kickstarter Project

10. Moose need more attention. Reindeer hog the spotlight around Christmas

9. You are looking for a new book to read with your kids

8. You have more money than you know what to do with

7. You are related to me and you don’t want the next family party to be awkward

6. You aren’t related to me, but you want to make up for the cheapskates in my family

5. I need your funding to do more pun-ding

4. You want to get some Christmas shopping done early

3. Moose are your favorite carnivores (Moose aren’t carnivores, are you even paying attention)

2. You are wondering if #3 used the right plural form of Moose

1. If I don’t get funding, my mom will have to do the artwork

Thanks again for the awesome support so far. You can view my Kickstarter project here and you can check out the video I made below.

I Need Your Help

I am excited to share with you the news that I have written a children’s book titled, Maury C. Moose and The Forest Noel.  The book features many puns, rhymes and quirky animal characters and is written for parents and kids to enjoy together! I am in the process of self publishing and in order to help offset some of the costs, I have created a Kickstarter campaign (or a Bakestarter campaign).

I can’t wait to bring this book to life but I could use your help.

If you are not familiar with Kickstarter, it is an online platform and resource used to help fund creative projects.  Since their launch in 2009, more than 4.6 million people have pledged over $754 million, funding more than 47,000 creative projects. This support is not charity. Every project offers a range of rewards that backers receive in exchange for their support.

My funding goal is $5,000 over the next 30 days. By reaching this goal, I will be able to cover the cost of editing, US copyright registration and additional items associated with getting the book into various bookstores.

If you are interested in learning more about my campaign, here’s how to get involved:

  • Click here to view my project
  • Check out my video and learn more about my book
  • If you find the book idea compelling, choose a rewards level which you would like to pledge
  • In order to pledge you will need to sign up for a kickstarter account (all they need is name, email address & a password)
  • You will submit payment through Amazon (you will need to create an Amazon account if you do not already have one)
  • Kickstarter is an all or nothing system, so you will not be charged until I meet my goal. If for some reason I fall short, you will not be charged a dime.
  • Tell your friends!

I realize that not everyone will be able to support financially and I completely understand. If you would like to help without spending any money, I can definitely use a hand in getting the word out. If you can share this with friends, family and any other contacts who might want to support a young author and receive a new book, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for your support. I will be sending out project updates letting everyone know how the campaign is going.
